My dad taught me a great way to clean old and hard to remove stains from porcelain sinks, bathtubs and toilets. It’s a trick he picked up in his youth while working at a bar cleaning toilets.

My husband and I live in a California bungalow from 1919 with an old cast iron utility sink that has seen better days. It’s full of hard water stains, rust and paint. Here’s how I gave it a face lift.

1. Take a piece of 400 grit (or finer) “wet” or “waterproof” sandpaper

2. Thoroughly wet it and the surface to clean.
3. Scrub until stains are removed!
4. Use soap if desired

Thanks for the awesome tip Dad!

If you don’t have a local hardware store, you can get it here on Amazon.com
